Biography
Godley & Creme were an English rock duo composed of Kevin Godley and Lol Creme. The pair began releasing albums as a duo after splitting from the rock band 10cc. In 1979 they directed their first music video for the single “An Englishman in New York”. After this, they became involved in directing videos for such artists as Ultravox, The Police, Yes, Duran Duran, Frankie Goes to Hollywood and Wang Chung, as well as directing the ground-breaking video for their own “Cry” in 1985. Freeze Frame is a 1979 album by Godley & Creme. The album was recorded at Nigel Gray’s Surrey Sound Studios, Leatherhead, Surrey. This album made use of a couple of technical innovations which gave it a unique sound. “I Pity Inanimate Objects” contained a distinctive vocal treatment in which the notes are seemingly obtained by altering the pitch of pre-recorded voices. Paul Mc Cartney sang backing vocals on ‘Get well soon’ and Phil Manzanera of Roxy Music played electric guitar on the album.
