Biography
Ashra is a project begun by Manuel Göttsching in 1976, initially to facilitate his solo career although other members were included later on. The band’s name is an abbreviation of the name of Gottsching’s previous band, Ash Ra Tempel. The name was changed as Gottsching’s music became less psychedelic and more oriented towards electronica. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ashra
Album & Cover
Correlations is the third studio album Ashra. It is the first Ashra album to feature a full band; the first two albums under the name had actually been Manuel Göttsching solo albums.
The front cover photograph was inspired by a girl drinking from a fountain while Storm Thorgerson was walking the park. A natural occurrence but full of sexual undertones which can be construed from the photo.
