Status Quo – Live(1977)

Biography
Status Quo are an English rock band who play a brand of boogie rock. The group originated in The Spectres, founded by schoolboys Francis Rossi and Alan Lancaster in 1962. After a number of lineup changes, which included the introduction of Rick Parfitt in 1967, the band became The Status Quo in 1967 and Status Quo in 1969. They have had over 60 chart hits in the UK, more than any other rock band, including “Pictures of Matchstick Men” in 1968, “Whatever You Want” in 1979 and “In the Army Now” in 1986 and 2010. Twenty-two of these reached the Top 10 in the UK Singles Chart. In July 1985 the band opened Live Aid at Wembley Stadium with “Rockin’ All Over the World”. In 1991, Status Quo received a Brit Award for Outstanding Contribution to Music. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Status_Quo_(band)

Album & Cover
This is a double Live album by Status Quo.

For this juxtaposition cover, according to Storm Thorgerson writing in the book ‘Walk Away Rene’ it was a three-fold idea. Firstly,  posters on street walls pasted on top of one another or ripped by fans, etc, the tearing of the image is the second idea to represent live performances, and thirdly it is a variation of a double level theme, presenting two partial images in the same picture. Richard Manning explains the process: A black and white print of the band was roughly torn to leave a white edge, and then glued in position with Columbia Cement onto a colour print of the band on stage.
