Biography
Though first emerging as a staple of the British progressive rock community of the 1970s, Bob Sargeant enjoyed his greatest success a decade later as one of the most notable producers of the new wave era. He first surfaced as a keyboardist with Mick Abrahams’ backing band, on Abrahams’ 1971 self-titled solo debut. Freelance work with Andy Roberts, Junco Partners and Patrick Campbell-Lyons followed, and in 1975 Sargeant issued his lone solo album, First Starring Role.Bob joined Junco Partners in the summer of 1966, replacing Pete Wallis on keyboards. Four years of extensive gigging followed, supporting a host of top bands at the time, including The Who, Free, Fleetwood Mac, Deep Purple and Jethro Tull. By this time, Bob also featured as lead vocalist and Junco Partners recorded their debut album while touring the country backing blues legend Howlin’ Wolf. In the summer of 1970 Bob was approached by Andy Roberts (ex Liverpool Scene) to join his band Everyone. An album was recorded and touring started across the UK which included an appearance at the Isle of Wight Festival. Following a road crash the band, as it was, folded and Bob joined Mick Abrahams Band (ex Jethro Tull, Blodwyn Pig). Two years of touring and two studio albums followed but he left the band to pursue a solo career, along with session work (notably playing keyboards on albums by Al Stewart and Curved Air). https://www.facebook.com/TheJuncoPartners/
