Album & Cover
High ‘n’ Dry is the second studio album by the English rock band Def Leppard, released on July 11, 1981. High ‘n’ Dry was Pete Willis’ last full-time album with Def Leppard. It charted at No. 38 on the Billboard 200 and No. 26 on the UK Albums Chart. “High ‘n’ Dry (Saturday Night)”, ranked No. 33 on VH1’s 40 Greatest Metal Songs.[8] Following the success of Pyromania, the album re-entered in the US chart and reached No. 72 in 1983. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High_%27n%27_Dry

The idea for the cover of this album came from the ‘mob mentality’ concept. And according to Aubrey Powell the idea of a crowed street all looking towards an event that occurs in the sky when someone points towards it, maybe a suicide attempt, a falling aeroplane, a rare bird, or a fire in an office block(Towering Inferno). But if nothing is happening, the people are annoyed and move on. This idea has the band looking out as the ‘mob’ are looking up… something special. Peter Christopherson did the lighting and is an extra on the cover(top right, in knitted jumper)
